Availability & Booking Process

To book Nelsons Cabin, please click the 'BOOK NOW' link below the availability calendar.

Bookings are currently open until 2nd June. Further dates for the remainder of the year will be released in due course.

Please ensure you read the eligibility Criteria thoroughly below, before make your request. Bookings will be cancelled if we are unable verifying your status.

Nelsons is available to book for 3, 4 or 7 nights:

  1. Weekend - Friday to Monday (3 nights)
  2. Mid-Week - Monday to Friday (4 nights)
  3. Full Week - Friday to Friday or Monday to Monday (7 Nights)

Please contact the LAF Office for any requests for longer stays. 

The Christmas period between 11th December 2026 and 8th January 2026 is by Ballot only.  Details of how to apply will be published on Monday 1st June.

Eligibility Criteria

Bookings will be allocated on the eligibility criteria set out below:

  1. Serving Personnel who are permanently based in HMNB Portsmouth, HMS Nelson and on-board Portsmouth based HM Ships are eligible to make an instant booking.
  2. Other Serving Personnel based outside of HMNB Portsmouth are welcome to apply for Mid-Week (Monday to Friday 4 nights) bookings between the following periods:
      1. 27th April - 22nd May 2026
      2. 1st June - 26th June 2026
      3. 7th September - 16th October 2026
      4. 2nd November - 11th December 2026
  3. Serving Personnel who have left a Portsmouth based HM Ship or Naval Base deployed unit within the last 12 months, but were unable to book Nelsons Cabin during their assignment due to operational reasons, are welcome to apply and will be reviewed on as case by case basis.
  4. Personnel will be restricted to one booking per year; unless surplus dates are available as per para 5 below.
  5. Any surplus dates will be released to all Serving Personnel outside of HMNB Portsmouth 6 weeks prior to the arrival date.

Booking Conditions

Eligibility

Please review the Eligibility Criteria outlined above to confirm that you meet the requirements for the dates you have selected. Bookings that do not meet the eligibility criteria will be cancelled, and any deposit paid will be refunded minus a £10 administrative fee. If you are uncertain about your eligibility, please contact the LAF Office prior to making a booking.

Payment Terms:

Deposit

Upon confirmation of your booking request by the LAF office, please ensure to make a deposit payment of £100 within two working days to secure your reservation.

Remaining Balance

The outstanding balance is required to be settled in full six weeks before the hire date; failure to do so will result in us reserving the right to cancel your reservation.

Hire Charge

The hire charge covers the expenses for cleaning, gas, electricity, site fees, and VAT, as well as park passes for access to all on-site facilities. While bedding is provided, guests are required to bring their own towels.

Pets

Pets are permitted, however, an additional cleaning fee of £30 will be incurred. Any damage to the property, fixtures, or fittings will result in charges to the individual renting the facility.

Cancellation Policy

Should you need to cancel your booking, refunds are processed in accordance with the timeframes below:

We recognise that the requirements of the Service may necessitate changes to plans. Should you need to cancel or modify your booking due to the Service's needs, please reach out to the LAF Office to discuss your options.

Non-eligible bookings will be cancelled will all monies refunded, less a £10 Admin Fee.
